I have dabbled in antiques since my teens and repainting old furniture was an inevitable part of that. I have also done courses in woodworking and upholstery, although I doubt I’d still be able to do a decent dovetail joint, as I once could! I hate seeing beautifully made pieces of mahogany furniture being dumped, as people prefer to buy standardised build-yourself chipboard items. Renovating old furniture so that it looks good in a modern home is great from a sustainability perspective. I have an Art Deco table which I have owned over 30 years, and it has had many different paint finishes and colours in that time.
I used to have a pop-up shop on the stunning Isle of Skye, but I now sell pieces at Antiques Fairs in Oxon/Bucks and for collection from South Oxon from my Facebook shop. I am also happy to take commissions and work from my garden studio.
A fun part of this hobby is also all the marketing that I need to do, using channels such as Pinterest, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook.
